Protecting forests from invasive species
Controlling the damage
The significant damage to our forests by invasive species continues to grow at alarming rates. The emerald ash borer and Asian long-horned pine beetle for example, have been introduced through shipping pallets from around the globe.
These pests have killed hundreds of millions of trees in Canada alone – in both forested and urban areas, causing significant ecological and economic impacts.
Cutting-edge research
The RF solution
We are currently conducting cutting-edge research – proudly partnering with the United States Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and Penn State University on the study of heat treatment for invasive species using RF technology.
These studies will be used to finalize commercial parameters for the treatment of invasive species, resulting in a targeted approach to this worldwide problem.
